THE BIOTHERAPY GUIDE TO HERBAL MEDICINE
Some Questions
and Answers

Q. What is
herbal medicine?
A. For thousands of years humans have been using
herbs to stimulate healing with regard to many
different health problems, as well as to
maintain vigorous, good health. Many modern
drugs have their origin in traditional folk
remedies, such as aspirin, morphine, digoxin,
and many more. Orthodox medicine to a very large
extent is based on drugs isolated from plants.
Herbal medicine uses the whole plant in a
gentler and safer way for restoring a patient's
health. In many European countries herbal
products have been available by prescription and
over the counter for a long time, and now herbs
are starting to move into the forefront of
American healthcare.
Q. Are herbs
drugs or foods?
A. Herbal remedies act very much like foods. In
the United States we make a distinction between
foods and drugs, but in fact many common foods
can be used for their medicinal actions. Is
ginger, for example, a food or a drug? The
correct answer is that it is both. Most herbs,
as edible plants, are as safe to take as food.
They have virtually no side effects as natural
medicines.
Q. How does
herbal medicine work?
A. -Herbs promote elimination of wastes and
poisons from the liver, bowel, kidneys, lungs,
and skin.
-Herbs help overcome infection by stimulating
the body's defense mechanisms and by their
direct anti-microbial, anti-viral,
anti-parasitic, and anti-fungal action.
-Herbs stimulate "atonic" organs.
-Herbs work as a sedative for overactive organs
and the nervous system.
-Herbs enhance blood and lymph circulation.
-Herbs reduce inflammation and irritation.
-Herbs promote hormonal balance.
-Herbs are rich in vitamins, minerals, enzymes,
and other vital substances and are involved in
the important biochemical processes which
control the functioning of the body and mind.
Q. Can
conventional medical treatment be combined with
herbal medicine?
A. In China, Russia, and many European countries
such as Germany and France, herbal medicine
coexists successfully with Western-style
medicine.
Specialists at BIOTHERAPY CLINIC have decades of
experience successfully applying prescription
drugs in conjunction with herbal medicine. In
many cases herbal medicine can enhance the
therapeutic results of the traditional medical
approach.
Q. What kind of
herbs do you use?
A. At BIOTHERAPY CLINIC we use unique herbal
formulations based on European, Oriental,
Russian, and American herbology and our own 30
years of experience with herbs and natural
healing.

condition of the patient. Among the types of
