Chronic Pancreatitis and Gas, Bloating, and Flatulence

The majority of the patients with chronic pancreatitis have the regular gas, bloating, belching, and flatulence after meals. They consider these symptoms as “normal,” take OTC or prescription medications counting on a quick fix.

What causes these symptoms and many other digestive problems in case of chronic pancreatitis?

Knowing the real reasons may help with treatment by focusing on the roots of the problems.

The key reason for that is indigestion in the small intestine. It is known; small intestine is a 25-30 feet long tube chamber where 90% of the fat and 50% of the proteins and carbohydrates are digested and assimilated. Pancreatic digestive enzymes and bile break up food into tiny particles, which can go through the gut’s wall into the blood and lymph, so the human being can utilize these particles to make cells and tissues.

The indigested food chunks are fermented in the small and large intestines by bacteria and yeasts with producing a lot of intestinal gas. This gas consists of hydrogen, methane, sulfur, and nitro compounds. This toxic matter goes through the gut’s wall and poisons the entire body. The toxins poison the digestive, nervous, cardiovascular, immune, and hormonal systems. Very often people with gas, bloating, and foul flatulence also suffer from fatigue, headache, allergy, depression, anxiety, palpitations, skin rashes, fibromyalgia, PMS, erectile dysfunction, low thyroid, and more.

Collected inside the small intestine, toxic matter and gas increase the pressure within the abdomen leading to constant bloating, bile reflux, cramps, pain, hiatal hernia, and impair microcirculation of the inner organs. This intestinal gas has only two ways for discharge simply up to the mouth or down to the anus. By moving up, it causes upper abdominal pain, heartburn, fullness, burping, belching, etc. If the toxic gas in the small intestine looks for its way to the anus, it causes flatulence, smelly gas, lower abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, diverticulosis, hemorrhoids, etc.

A lot of the intestinal gas is produced by Candida-yeast. It is known; beneficial bacteria control the growth of opportunistic intestinal infection such as harmful bacteria, yeasts, and parasites. If the amount of the beneficial (friendly) intestinal flora goes down, opportunistic infection takes over the gastrointestinal tract and inhabits in the small and large intestines.

Thanks to innovative technology, doctors can indicate now the hydrogen or methane in exhaled air and call it as Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO). SIBO is a new name for old disease-dysbiosis when Candida-yeast, harmful bacteria, and parasites overgrow in the intestines.

Digestion in the small intestine can happen only in the presence of the normal quality and sufficient amount of the pancreatic digestive enzymes and bile. Contrary, abnormal pancreatic juice and bile in the person with chronic pancreatitis are responsible for almost all digestive symptoms.

What causes the low quality of the bile and pancreatic juice? To recognize that, it needs to know that the pancreas and liver are alkaline glands. It means that either the bile or pancreatic juice is alkaline solutions. Releasing in the first part of the small intestine-duodenum, alkaline bile, and pancreatic juice makes alkaline environment there. The alkaline milieu is critical for normal work of the

pancreatic digestive enzymes. Acidity kills the pancreas in several ways and stops working the pancreatic digestive enzymes in the small intestine.

Acidic changes in the entire human being lead also to the acidic changes in the bile and pancreatic juice. It makes bile “aggressive” and corrosive. Aggressive, acidic bile irritates the gallbladder, bile ducts, sphincter of Oddi, and walls of the duodenum causing inflammation, ulcers, and “wrong way traffic” – bile reflux.

Without making bile and pancreatic juice liquid and alkaline, it is impossible to help the person with chronic pancreatitis to reduce digestive problems. American conventional medicine does not have the safe and efficient way to improve pancreatic function. Why not turn to the experience of doctors and medical practitioners from other countries.

Let us start from Europe.

For many digestive (pancreatic) disorders, European doctors have advised drinking Karlovy Vary mineral water either from the thermal spring or by preparing the healing water from the genuine Karlovy Vary spring salt for home treatment since the 18th century.

This water has very important minerals, trace elements, and bicarbonate in it. The medical researches and clinical observations confirmed that the Karlovy Vary healing mineral water is beneficial for chronic pancreatitis individuals with gas, bloating, and flatulence. Another way to neutralize the body acidity and improve pancreatic function is taking Cellular Magnesium – Potassium. It raises saliva and urine pH proving that body obtains healthy acid-alkaline balance.

Consumption of the processed, artificial foods without natural enzymes pushes pancreas to produce large amounts of its digestive enzymes to compensate that. Constant overwork weakens the pancreas. Thus, eating unprocessed foods with natural digestive enzymes can save and prolong pancreatic function. Separate diet can lessen the effort on the pancreas as well.

In the U.S., diet uses mainly for weight loss. Contrary, in Europe there are many clinics where the healing foods have used for treatment digestive and metabolic diseases. In Biotherapy Clinic, we implement healing, alkaline diet for various stages of chronic pancreatitis. We explain the healing power of the foods in our EBook “Healthy Pancreas, Healthy You” part II.

Another advantage of the alkaline pancreas is that pancreatic digestive enzymes beside the food digest harmful bacteria, yeasts, and parasites. It is known, the acidity of the pancreatic juice causes the diminishing of its antimicrobial activity. In turn, it leads to small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). The harmful microorganisms ferment indigested food producing a lot of intestinal gas. This intestinal gas propels the “aggressive” mix of the acidic bile and acidic pancreatic juice up to the stomach causing bile reflux with belching and stubborn heartburn.

By the way, how to make sure is the body acidic or not? The easy way is the measuring saliva and urine pH by litmus paper. If repeatedly the saliva and urine pH are more than 6.6, it demonstrates that body is acidic.

The beneficial (friendly) intestinal bacteria suppress the growth of opportunistic infection such as harmful bacteria, yeasts, and parasites; thus, reduce indigestion and gas forming. Taking low-quality probiotics or eat yogurt to replenish beneficial bacteria is a common myth. It does not work in person with chronic pancreatitis with SIBO and Candida-yeast overgrowth. If repeated courses of antibiotics eradicate the beneficial intestinal bacteria, Candida-yeast takes over large intestine and produces mycotoxins. It builds colonies on the colon’s walls. These colonies are covered by biofilms, so the beneficial bacteria cannot attach to the intestinal walls ad reside there.

Anti-Candida European Whole Body Cleansing Program is the first step to restoring the proper balance of the friendly flora in the colon by using complex approach:

  1. Starve and kill the Candida
  2. Restore friendly bacteria
  3. Evacuate the deceased Candida and toxins from the body
  4. Restore the proper digestion and replace missing nutrients
  5. Enhance the immune system relieve stress.

A process needs the time and patient involvement. To reduce gas, bloating, and flatulence in chronic pancreatitis, we also use various herbal remedies and nutritional supplements, acupuncture, abdominal manual therapy, and colon hydrotherapy.

Overweight issues especially extra pounds around the midsection of the abdomen are symptoms of fatty liver and fatty pancreas. The fatty pancreas is usually ignored and misdiagnosed. Losing just a few pounds can improve pancreatic function and digestive symptoms like heartburn, intestinal gas, bloating, belching, bile reflux, and flatulence. Our European Whole Body Cleansing and Weight Loss Program is designed for it.
