Anyone who knows about Clostridium difficile infection, may ask the question why the broad-spectrum antibiotics’ that cause this problem, at the same time, are the primary choice for its treatment. Something sure does look wrong in this picture. Sadly, common treatment of the C. difficile with antibiotics cannot put off the relapses.
The report that has just been released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This 2013 report stated that Clostridium difficile is already a major clinical threat for a public health and could worsen. It can cause severe illness, and if resistance to current therapies emerged, the results would be severe.
Some researchers believe that the C. difficile is linked to more than 30,000 deaths per year in the US alone, and about half a million of Americans suffer from it annually. It is really a superbug. Why do some doctors call C. diff a superbug? The reason is that in the battle between broad-spectrum antibiotics’ and C. difficile, the resistant species of this microbe are the winners.
C. difficile is a bacterium that produces watery diarrhea, fever, bloody stool, nausea, abdominal pain, or cramps. C. diff may lead to serious conditions such as colon inflammation (colitis).
Healthy people do not normally get sick from C. diff. 10 percent of the population has this microorganism in the gut without noticeable symptoms. Usually we can get Clostridium difficile, from food, dirty hands, and water. Healthy individuals have the defense mechanism that protects them from this superbug. Researchers and medical doctors are unanimous that Clostridium. difficile takes place as a rule after treatment with broad-spectrum antibiotics, and typically it is an assault on people with low immune system such as young kids, elderly and people after serious surgeries, radiation, chemotherapy, AIDS, drug addicts, alcoholics’, etc. Lots of them had this bacterium in their intestines before taking antibiotics, but they felt normal.
The majority of the experts agree that prolong use of the broad-spectrum antibiotic triggers C. diff infection and it does so by destroying the friendly intestinal flora. These microorganisms are called friendly, because “Enemy of my enemy is my friend”. Friendly flora is our greatest defender from invading microorganisms, such as microbes, Candida-yeast, viruses, and parasites.
The condition when beneficial, friendly intestinal flora is gone, and opportunistic infections take over gastrointestinal tract (Candida-yeast overgrowth, Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth; SIBO) have a medical term-dysbiosis. There is a lot of information on dysbiosis, in the Biotherapy eBook: “Healthy Pancreas, Healthy You”.
Clostridium difficile is the human opportunistic infection. It grows while it has the opportunity to grow. Other harmful intestinal bacteria, Candida-yeast, and parasites cause damage to the intestines, as a result, make it susceptible to multiplying (colonization) of the C. diff. This superbug does not work alone. There is growing evidence that a number of other species of opportunistic infection such as Candida-yeast, Staphylococcus, Klebsiella, parasites, etc also responsible for symptoms of antibiotic-associated diarrhea.
C. difficile causes a lot of damage to the body systems; thus, there is no magic bullet for this awful infection. Just killing the C. difficile with the strongest, broad-spectrum antibiotics or other antimicrobial agents has the temporary effect and, anyway, it leads to relapses. Without restoration of the body’s natural defense mechanisms, the conquest over these bacteria is difficult to obtain. A few medical things have to be done all together.
- Re-establish the friendly intestinal flora
- Restore the body’s natural defense mechanisms such as stomach acid, intestinal flashing out, antibacterial activity of bile and pancreatic juice, proper work of the sphincters, etc
- Diminish the colonization of Clostridium difficile in the intestines
- Lessen the intestinal inflammation and inner toxicity
- Repair the damages from C. diff toxins on the hormonal and nervous systems
- Boost up the immunity
- Normalize the body’s acid-alkaline balance
- Recover the proper digestion
- Restore balance in the deficiency of the essential substances
In Biotherapy Clinic, we use safe, effective, nondrug; alternative, holistic approach for several years. Numerous parts of this nondrug, unique anti Clostridium program, have been widely used by doctors in other countries for hundreds of years. Anti Clostridium program can reduce diarrhea, pain, abdominal cramps, nausea, bloating, bloody stool, bowels urgency, and other gastrointestinal symptoms. Lab tests also can show positive changes.
Some of these alternative holistic methods are:
- Whole Body Cleansing with colon hydrotherapy and restoration of friendly intestinal flora
- Herbal Medicine
- Nutritional Supplementation
- Healing Food Consultations
- Karlovy Vary Healing Mineral Water
- Acupuncture and more
People have suffered from the chronic diarrhea for thousands of years. It has accompanied humans for centuries, long before the era of antibiotics. Non-drug, natural methods have a long history in treating chronic diarrhea. Doctors all over the globe have saved their patients’ lives by using healing foods, herbs, minerals, colon hydrotherapy, etc.
It may sound strange that alternative medicine can be useful for this chronic, dangerous and often deadly medical condition.
Let us look at Biotherapy Clinic experience. For instance, one dentist prescribed to a young lady strong antibiotics’. In a few weeks, she got watery diarrhea, sometimes with mucous and blood, high temperature, abdominal pain, nausea. Physician made tests and Clostridium difficile colitis was diagnosed. She was put on continuous course of the strong antibiotics, but she got several relapses. She had mucus, and blood in her stools, she lost weight and felt extremely fatigue and depressed. After six months of suffering, she decided to try nondrug, natural approach in the Biotherapy Clinic. Her MD was supportive and authorized her to discontinue antibiotics for some period.
The purpose of her alternative medicine treatment was to bring back natural mechanisms that keep healthy people from opportunistic infection, fight with Candida-yeast overgrowth and SIBO-Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth, and intestinal inflammation. It needed to restore her friendly intestinal flora, the proper digestion, and boost the proper immunity, replenish deficiency of the essential nutrients.
She started with alkaline, anti Candida diet. She took a considerable amount of a variety of human strains, living probiotics. She drunk healing mineral water prepared from genuine Karlovy Vary thermal spring salt and many herbal teas. This young woman had several sessions of colon hydrotherapy and acupuncture with relaxation. She took minerals, trace elements, herbs, vitamins, essential fatty acids, etc.
To a big surprise of her MD, her condition was significantly improved in three weeks. Her stool was getting formed and regular, she gained weight, and she went to work. Her tests confirmed that she was free from Clostridium toxins. There are no relapses for six months after.
Using acupuncture in case of the chronic diarrhea sounds strange. I have seen it with my own eyes that a few sessions of the acupuncture stop diarrhea, even in the small kids.
Drinking healing mineral water also sounds strange for the regular people and medical professionals in US, but it is common in Europe. Treatment of the chronic diarrhea with Karlovy Vary healing mineral water has long been a tradition in Europe. First medical book about this water was published in 1522. Since then, many books, articles, and clinical experience of the European doctors support healing action of the Karlovy Vary healing mineral water in various digestive disorders including chronic diarrhea.
Karlovy Vary healing mineral water has unique content of minerals, essential trace elements, and bicarbonate. Karlovy Vary water’s unique property has been proven: the historical fact states – the plague of 1713 raged all over the Czech lands, except small town-Karlovy Vary.
Karlovy Vary healing mineral water is not a panacea for all diseases, but it can be a very useful complementary healing tool for many chronic digestive conditions. Sick people can drink the healing mineral water that is prepared from genuine Karlovy Vary thermal spring salt at home. This healing mineral water cleanses out the wastes and toxins from the intestines, alkalizes bile and pancreatic juice, promotes the growth of the friendly intestinal flora, and alleviates diarrhea, gas, bloating, and abdominal cramps. I wrote an eBook and numerous articles for sick people and medical professionals, where I discussed this healing method.
It is known now that friendly intestinal flora is a key factor for protection healthy human being against the C. diff infection. Unluckily, in case of this infection, advice to take probiotics (many of them are low quality) or eat yogurt will not help.
Can you imagine the GI-tract as garden? If the garden is full of weeds, snails, frogs, caterpillars’ and it’s jam-packed by toxic chemicals, soil is drained and depleted; there are no chances to grow flowers there. Reestablish the friendly intestinal flora necessitates other ways, hard work, and some time to restore this garden to thrive. In the Biotherapy Clinic, we develop safe and effective program Whole Body Cleansing with colon hydrotherapy and restoration of friendly intestinal flora, to reestablish healthy friendly bacteria in the gut.
Historically, in chronic diarrhea, washing out toxins and waste products by using enemas have been used by doctors for a long time. Currently, superior equipment and well-trained personnel make the colon hydrotherapy safe and effective, nondrug support for chronic diarrhea. Clean and purify water flushes out C. difficile and its toxins from the colon walls; thus makes a healthy milieu to multiplying the beneficial bacteria.
Maybe you know that our ancestors bought spices and herbs for the price of gold. They knew that spices not only made the taste of the foods better, but also prevented and stopped diarrhea (food poisonings). Some authors conclude that spices kept humanity from epidemics’ of the digestive diseases. I strongly believe that healing significances of spices and spicy herbs regard to their unique ability to kill harmful bacteria and maintain healthy intestinal flora. The practical evidence of using herbs in the Biotherapy Clinic supports this idea.
C. difficile infection extends year by year. Thousands of patients of this terrible infection undergo the conventional treatment approach “find and destroy” by broad-spectrum antibiotics. If that way doesn’t work, it makes sense to consider alternative program to restore natural defense mechanism. It works for various people with diarrhea after antibiotics including people with C. diff.
